Iconic: Black Panther Chicago Opening Reception- November 2- Stony Island Arts Bank
ICONIC: Black Panther celebrates the legacy of the Black Panther Party in American history, featuring artworks from local and internationally recognized artists of all races including Emory Douglas, Dr. Samella Lewis, Shepard Fairey, Richard Duardo and Lili Bernard. The exhibition will be curated by Rootwork Gallery founder Tracie D. Hall and co-presented by the Center for the Study of Race, Politics and Culture UChicago. Iconic: Timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Black Panther Party’s Illinois chapter. The opening reception will be held November 2, 2018 from 7pm – 10pm. Free and open to the public.

A Purpose Driven Woman Conference- November 3- Sanctuary Music- 1400 S. Michigan
Hosted by business maven Felicia Shakespeare, the A Purpose Driven Woman Conference will feature discussion panels with inspiring leaders in Chicago business. Women of Soul- With a Tribute to Aretha Franklin- through January 13- Black Ensemble Theatre
Black Ensemble Theatre pays homage to some of the great women of soul- past and present with Women of Soul. Mahalia Jackson, Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole, Donna Summer, Etta James, Anita Baker and Jill Scott are just a few of the soul divas to be honored. Green Line Performing Arts Center Grand Opening- November 10 (2pm-6pm) a- Arts and Public Life – 301 E Garfield Blvd.
The University of Chicago Arts and Public Life Initiative has another feather in its cap. On November 10, the initiative hosts it’s Grand Opening + Community Celebration for the Green Line Performing Arts Center. The theater venue and rehearsal space will serve to support the arts across Chicago’s South Side. For the grand opening, you’ll enjoy live performances, Arts Block tours, exhibitions, local vendors, DJ sets, food, and family activities. This event is free and open to the public.

The Woodlawn Grand Opening- November 10 – The Woodlawn
The newly-opened The Woodlawn has its official grand opening celebration with a day of music, food, and fun. Popular South side restaurant Friistyle will serve up the eats.
