Deeply Rooted Dance Theatre- Deeply Free- December 8-10- Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts
Deeply Rooted Dance Theatre closes its yearlong 20th Anniversary Celebration series with Deeply Free: 20th Anniversary Season Finale. The three-day celebration culminates with performances of repertory classics, as well as the premiere of INDUMBA by South African choreographer Fana Tshabalala. If past performances are any indication, this is one event you don’t want to miss.

For 40 years, the Black Ensemble Theater (BET) has been known for its high quality, critically acclaimed musical productions. Plays honoring Josephine Baker and the Black Renaissance are just a few of BET’s offerings this year. Now the venerable playhouse follows up with Sammy: A Tribute to Sammy Davis Jr. – a celebration of the life and contributions of music legend Sammy Davis Jr.

This intimate listening session featuring R&B soulstress Marsha Ambrosius will feature her forthcoming release NYLA, and is hosted by radio personality, Kendra G, with sounds by Leon Rogers. As an added benefit, this event will serve as a toy drive for children in need within underprivileged communities. Guests are encouraged to donate unwrapped and unopened toys.
